A bright, modern kitchen with restored beams, custom cabinetry, and a blue center island.

This family of five has set their heart on this 4,641 sq. ft. Colonial home, initially built in 1652, with very low ceilings and a corky layout. The clients felt right at home at first sight and entrusted the architect, designer, and contractor to take on this very ambitious project and turn this house into a modern forever home.
The original wood frame was left intact and updated with modern materials. The ceilings were raised, a large basement was carved out, and a master suite with a vaulted ceiling was added, giving them a total of 6,700 sq. ft of living space. As a reminder of the home history, it was essential to use some of the original wood throughout the house, rehabilitating existing beams and wood structures and repurposing original floors into custom furniture and barn doors. From music room and game room to yoga studio, the house was designed with all members of the family in mind.
